IT’S A STRANGE TIME RIGHT NOW, LIVING, AND TRYING TO WORK THROUGH A PANDEMIC. AS A PHOTOGRAPHER I’VE HAD TO SHIFT SOME THINGS IN MY BUSINESS TO MAKE SURE I’M DOING EVERYTHING I CAN TO KEEP MY CLIENTS, AND MY SELF HEALTHY AND SAFE FROM THE CORONA VIRUS. IF YOU’RE CONSIDERING HAVING AN IN HOME LIFESTYLE SHOOT, OR A PHOTOGRAPHER WONDERING HOW TO BE SAFE DURING IN HOME SHOOTS KEEP READING TO LEARN MORE ABOUT WHAT I’M DOING.
MASK UP
Obviously the people being photographed can’t wear a mask while having their picture taken. But I wear a mask the entire time. If there are other people present for the shoot [which is not typical for me] they should [and would in my shoots] be wearing a mask.
WASH YOUR HANDS
Upon arriving at my client’s home I immediately wash my hands. This is something I always did even before Covid19 but I think people appreciate it now more than ever.
KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF
Pre-Covid19 I would arrive at a client’s home and after washing my hands [because I always did this since I was going to be around a newborn most of the time for in home sessions] I would scan the room we were shooting in and move any items that could be distracting in photos. I also used to touch newborn babies to reposition them, or swaddle them. These days I do my best not to touch anything in my client’s home, and I don’t touch their newborn babies at all. To be honest- it stinks! I loved getting to hold sweet babies on my shoots, get a little touch of baby fever and marvel over how sweet their were. But I take the safety of my clients very seriously. I want to minimize any risk and put my families at ease while I am in their space.
